Men’s Self Help And Therapy
What this business and blog is about?
So what’s this going to be about? This my friend’s is going to a blog that defines this business and ultimately this service. This blog is a vision of what I must do to both move my life forward, and help you the reader at the same time, to grow together.
This blog is going to be both my story, how I helped others, my why? and also the hopes of hearing your story, and how we can move your life forward, so six months from now, you can look back and go, I did that!
Pillar Number One: Health, A fitness habit and goal
In August of 2022 I ended an eight year relationship, knowing ultimately I just wanted more out of life. I didn’t know exactly what, but I knew I wanted more, and felt I couldn’t grow. At the same time not only was I now newly single, I was severely overweight. So I l said, “Well if you’re going to be 32, fat, and single, you can’t be 32 fat and single,” so I did it.
So I got in amazing shape, went from 330 pounds to 180 pounds over the course of a year to fifteen moments, but still I wanted more, as my life evolved and grew, with a new job, thinking about personal finance, and wanting to date type of girl I always wanted to date.
I had a great deal of success in one area, and now it was simply time to start turning my attention, to the other areas of my life.
So what’s my fitness goal now?
You see, the other day I wrote something in a blog that said I must be 175 pounds, sure, that sounds good, but really what must I do to get there. I must do that extra ten minutes of abs in the gym daily (why that, because I’m already in the gym for an hour, it’s that extra five to ten minutes I want to use and have the discipline to do to move my life forward.
I have to do those extra five to ten minutes of abs.
I have to make sure I have my oatmeal, deli or ground turkey, and spinach/green.
I have to make sure I have my CLA.
I have to make sure the only coffee I drink is black.
This my friends is a lot more powerful than I have to and your goal (example, I have to be 175 pounds). This says the action you have to take!
Pillar Number Two: Personal Finance
What about wealth, or as I like to say personal finance? I know for sure it can be a sour or sore subject for a lot of people, debts, savings, investtings, looking at others, feeling you aren’t ahead. This my friends is a subject I am going to start writing about, why because I have to move my life forward, and challenge you to move yours as well.
Everyone should have a personal finance goal. Chances are you aren’t Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, and chances are you have things you want to do with your money, like take your wife out for an awesome dinner, a weekend getaway, or even that awesome vacation.
Look, if everything is good in your life financially, then awesome, no need to even talk about it, or put it in the room, (therapy room), but if you have frustrations, or just things you want to work on and goals you want to reach with your money, then talk about it, put it in the room, create a plan, follow through it, and see how it’s working.
Personally, I have to pay off this Bank of America Card in seven months! Why? Because that’s my plan, with how much more I’m going to put extra toward it, and seven months it will be gone! Lookout March 2026!
Pillar Number Three: Our Jobs and Careers
What about our jobs, our careers, our mission and our purpose in life and to the world? What about how we are going to serve and contribute to others? For me as a therapist, I started by just helping others in the room, navigate feelings, navigate past experiences, move their life forward and reach the outcomes they wanted.
Whether it was frustrations with their personal lives like a relationship or a marriage, or resolving past experiences, and traumas or re-establishing relationships with loved ones and family after the dynamics had changed.
I love being in the room with clients, and helping them navigate the changes they want, but what I really love is putting those solutions in the room, seeing how they feel about it, establishing a plan and a follow through to do those solutions. Then let’s check in to see how that plan is going, especially for my men out there.
Why? Because we are men, and masculinity really does go through challenge. We have to challenge ourselves to work through our problems, fears, insecurities, and doubts. We have to come out of it on the other side and go. Otherwise we are just going to sit here, be in a rut, and be content to go through the week, just to get through the weekend and do it over again.
Screw that, look I’m not saying go quit your job and start a business and go buy a yacht. What I am saying start thinking about how you want to live your life, get intentional, and start putting a plan in place to live it!
If you are in my room, you got to let it out and then figure it out. Here’s the real trick, figuring it out means doing those little things, and little habits, or good behaviors that move your life forward, to where you want it to be six months to a year from now.
My personal example:
For example six months from now, I want my Bank of America Card paid off, I wanna weight 175 pounds, have one more avenue of a daily habit I am doing in this business (since blogging is my daily habit, YouTube is next), and to go on an awesome vacation with my girl.
For these things to happen,
I must track my spending daily.
I must go to the gym, do those extra ten minutes of abs.
I must blog everyday, and set aside time to do a YouTube video that discuses a past blog.
I must take my girl out once or twice a week, to show her I love her, I care, and damn I want to have fun with her, besides just watching the Giants go 4-13.
What are your challenges that you want to work through?
If you are a man, and reading this I really want to know what are things you have to work through, so we can work through them, and develop a plan.
Do you want to work through being in a marriage you aren’t happy in? Do you want to work through being frequently angry at your wife?
Do you want to feel like working through feelings of insecurity, jealousy, and even some values that don’t align with your wife or girlfriend?
Do you want to work through navigating your dating life so you feel like you are living a life of action and abundance, and not fear, doubt, uncertainty and regret.
