Dating Profile Picture: The Steak Picture

Picture Number Four: Your Steak Picture

What the hell is steak picture?

Ok let’s get down to the nitty gritty: yes you have to order steak, and please, for the love, do not take this picture at more than one steakhouse (eating at a steakhouse is expensive). Unless you really like steak or can afford it, then, hey, have fun and enjoy.

As I take you through this blog post, I’ll explain to you the mistake I made (as I did this totally wrong the first time) and then when I did it totally right. But before I do, I want to capture what this picture really is about.

It says you’re a regular dude, who likes to go nice places and appreciates good food. What’s a nice place? A Steakhouse, a nice restaurant. What’s a good food? Steak, it totally is! But as you’ll see steak is really just the little detail that we add in after, you know, to stack the deck in your favor.

Remember Guys- this is a profile; it’s a profile that is designed to get matches and likes, and we do it with awesome pictures and normal, engaging prompts. It actually is the pictures, that when done right, build just a little bit of interest and attraction before the date.

The profile is also about variety, and being you.

It is a profile that says we do fun, interesting things, go to fun places, and do it with fun people. It’s about variety, and also stacking the deck in our favor, whether we are going to rooftop bars, food festivals, a fun vacation or a nice steak house/nice restaurant.

The trick is to take this information (the pictures) and make it true to who you are, then stack the deck in your favor with the details we discuss in the blog.

What is a Steak Picture?

Now for our steak picture. Similarly to our rooftop picture, we want that same outfit: the white button down (leave one button down, come on give the people what they want), and wear that sports coat.

Also similar to the rooftop picture, we are totally going for that fun and classy look, just in a way that is true to ourselves. How do we keep it in a way that is true to ourselves?

We ask ourselves three questions:

Who do we want to go out and eat at a nice restaurant with?

What do we want to do that night, and…

Where do we want to go?

Keep it real, be authentic to you in how you are taking it.

When I took my steak picture, it was on a night that I took my friend out for his birthday, wanted to take him to a nice steakhouse, and see one of my favorite Long Island cover bands, 90's band. I found a steakhouse (Chadwick’s in Rockville Centre) five minutes away, took my friend out for his birthday and then went to Tap Room in Rockville Centre.

Did I want a steak picture, absolutely, did I also want to take my friend out our for his birthday? Absolutely, that’s how you keep it authentic, two things can be true at once, I wanted a steak picture, and a fun night out with my friend.

best pictures for dating profile

Look at this stud, I mean bald guy, I mean therapist.

Notice how natural it was to capture the essence of this picture and make it myself. Who did I go out with? My friend. What did I want to do? Take him out for his birthday, and go see live music after.

Where I did go? A place that looked like a nice place to take him out for his birthday, and of course a nice restaurant to get my steak picture. Look here is the little disclaimer…

You don’t need to go to an actual steakhouse for picture

While this is called a Steakhouse picture, you can go any restaurant you want, just be a sure it’s a restaurant, slightly upscale, and not just a bar that serves beer and wings. Let it at least say, cozy, trendy or casual on google.

Now let’s see what photofeeler says, or the votes say…

Look at the feedback we get from photofeeler, when I took this picture with my friend on his birthday, and just nailing the details (we’ll get to the details later), Photofeeler says 7.2 and above average, not bad for a bald therapist.

Now let’s see the feedback we get from photofeeler when we are taking a steak picture but NOT being true to ourselves.

steakhouse picture dating profile

OOOOOFFFFFF, a 6.1 that’s low value.

So what do I mean when I say I wasn’t being true to myself?

I was totally being someone I wasn’t, going where I did not want to go, (Manhattan), eating at steakhouses I had no interest in, and definitely with people I had no interest in hanging out with.

Look at this picture, a measly 6.1. Is it really a coincidence that when I was not being true to myself this picture came out a full point below the picture with my friend on a fun night out? Hell no it isn’t! (at least if you ask me).

Back to the essence of this picture: Who? Where? and What are we doing?

I think it’s safe to say we definitely know who to take this picture with but….

Where do we go?

The answer is a steakhouse, but a steakhouse near you, or a steakhouse that you or your friends really want to go to, or if it really really fits better to you, then go to your favorite restaurant, or a place you always wanted to try. Just be sure to do something fun before and/or after, don’t just make this picture about the steak or a dating profile pic…

Make everything around the picture YOU, from the people, the place, and whatever you guys do after.

Guys, remember Photofeeler is Feedback…that’s all

Don’t forget my little disclaimer and warning, use photofeeler.com as feedback, don’t obsess over it for the perfect picture and score. It’s feedback, whether you are using to pick from two or three restaurants for the highest score or whether it is feedback to choose between two or three pictures, at the same restaurant.

Tip: Pick a fun or known place in your area!

Here’s a little tip, if you are in a well known restaurant in your area, major bonus point, the girl might recognize it, which then is something in common, which may even make her a little more attracted, and definitely makes it easier for her to even to start the conversation if she is really attracted. It only works in your favor to do this.

Now it’s time for the details:

Or as I like to say the things that stack the deck in our favor. Remember guys the details come after we get the essence of the picture down which is, Who we’re with, what were doing, and where we’re going that night?

Camera:

As usual we want the phone in portrait mode. Also notice on the camera side, I am a little more to the right of the picture, and not toward the middle or left, so when you are taking it, try sitting a little closer to your left side, just pointing out the position for the record.

See the difference when you are being yourself and not a freak.

The Clothes:

As you can see our sports jacket has returned along with our signature white! Go do it guys, keep it simple and keep it real to yourselves. Also guys, give the ladies what they want and un-button that top button, look like you are having fun, not at a fine dining formal.

The Drink:

Look when I wasn’t being myself I ordered red wine, why? Because that’s what I was told to make the picture good, but seriously who cares. I don’t like wine, I like fruity cocktails. So guys order whatever you drink you want.

One little disclaimer, I would not order beer, as there is a high likelihood the feedback you get from photofeeler (real person votes), won’t be as good as if you are holding a cocktail in your hand.

Grooming:

Don’t forget the importance of grooming, beard cut and trimmed day of or day before, along with a haircut either day of or day before. Guys, I don’t need to put the picture here for you to tell I got a haircut and shaved my beard the day of the picture. I digress.

The Meal:

DOOOO NOOOOT eat the steak before taking the picture, not one bite. Come on guys, obviously the picture will look much better with the whole plate untouched, and not a half eaten steak.

What is going to look better, if you ate steak halfway and the table is messy, or if you had a perfectly well-garnished plate of food in front of you. Also, do yourself a favor and order the steak.

Look, you can try chicken or fish, pasta, or whatever, but I am fairly certain, the best feedback you are going to get from photofeeler, is going to be with steak in front of you, so why not stack that deck in your favor.

Clear the table!

Come on guys, nobody likes a messy steak picture, have just the basics on it the silverware, your plate, napkin on lap (thanks babe). You can see in my above steak picture, I DID NOT clear the table, bad Joe-Joe.

One final note on editing pictures..

Here is my “miSTEAK”picture (hehe), the one I took when I was totally not being myself, taking it with strangers, and doing it at a stupid steakhouse, wearing a tie, and drinking red wine, none of this is me.

Original steak picture, unedited. it’s a 6.1 on photofeeler.

And let me be clear: an edit can only take your picture so far when your not being you. For further proof, see below:

ohh wow a whopping 6.7

As you can see, that edit only did so much, even after trying to be someone I totally wasn’t. Even with this improved and edited face, it is still only a 6.7- a full point below the first picture you see in this blog post- you know, the one where I was totally being myself.

Guys, in closing, take your own steak picture.

Go somewhere you want to go, do what you want to do that night, and take it with awesome people -you know, the people you love.

Then when you get there, stack that deck in your favor, and nail the details (which we discussed already).
