Online Dating Picture Number Three: Your Vacation Picture

Picture number Three: The Vacation Picture

First I have to admit, I kind of got lucky

Ok so this picture I got lucky and happened to be wearing my signature white (at least signature white for dating), was with the people I love (I can't stress this enough), took the pictures with people I love, found a cool place (the stairs), and was on vacation.

So let’s start with the context- who this picture is taken with, what are you doing, and where you are (also known as people, places, things)? I was on a cruise, (thing) with my cousins (people), and yes, we knew what we were doing, (definitely taking a picture for dating Hinge, Tinder, etc, and yes for the gram).

The Where: That’s where I got lucky and found this great part on the boat, the stairs, which made for a great picture.

Guys, who you are with is so important.

An essential fundamental of the first two pictures and now this picture, is I am totally with people I love to be around. There’s no pressure other than having fun.

Just like writing this blog post, there is no pressure, I’m simply sharing information I learned along the way of making a terrible and also hilarious mistake, to slowly figuring it out for myself with trial, error and experience.

Even with photofeeler, if you feel the pressure to have a great score, then you might be losing the essence of what this really is about. Photofeeler is great for feedback, whether you are picking between two pictures at the same place, or different pictures at different places.

Be sure to use it as feedback, especially once you know you nailed essence and details of the picture. Don’t obsess over score or taking the perfect picture; take the picture, stack the deck in your favor using the details provided and move on.

So what does it mean to stack the deck in your favor?

We stack the deck in our favor in two ways, taking pictures that say a little bit about who and what we are about, and highlight our best and most fun-interesting selves, all while taking good quality pictures.

We stack the deck in our favor with the details: the camera angle, the clothes, the grooming, and maybe even a little edit with a fiverr pro. We just use photofeeler.com for feedback, we don’t go crazy with it.

Please note in the Fiverr link I included the user I preferred, she did a great job with a couple of touch-ups on other pictures, this picture has no edits at all, that’s right more importantly, if I can do it, you can totally do it.

Yes we can stack the deck a little more favorably if we use a professional editor on Fiverr, and get some feedback with photofeeler as just additional measures. Just note, when you go down this rabbit hole, you are risking really going down it, and nothing ever being good enough.

Do NOT go down the photofeeler.com rabbit hole, otherwise nothing is ever good enough. Just use it as feedback guys.

Why take these pictures with your friends.

A big part of who and what we are about is taking these pictures with your friends, so you can laugh, have fun, and share the experiences you are having both taking them and in whatever you are doing. What you’re doing, that goes right with what you are all about.

A huge part of this service is giving you an awesome dating profile that you can understand and apply for yourself, and then give this profile and dating the meaning in your life that you want.

The reality is the dating profile is just one part of who we are, then there is the matching, the messaging, the date, my goal here with these pics is to simply stack the deck in your favor so you are double tapped and swiped right on.

Ask yourself these questions

So guys, ask yourselves, who do we love to hangout with? Chances are it might be the same people as your rooftop picture, or your social picture and go with them.

Make it fun, make it a weekend getaway, or a vacation. Look I got lucky with this cruise picture, because when me and my cousins saw it, we said that we would be a great picture. If you like to travel, go find an awesome staircase at a famous place.  Or go to that well known area in that place, or just a cool background there.

Use the thing you are doing (vacation), and the where, different parts of the town, city, resort, cruise to your advantage!

If you are more of a weekend getaway type of person, also go find a great staircase in that city you are in. For example if I was in Atlantic City, one staircase that comes to mind is the outside of Oceans Casino.

What this picture is really about?

What this picture essentially boils down to is the who and what were about. It’s about going somewhere fun and different, because that is a place you love going (personally, I love cruises and weekend getaways). Take this picture and apply it to yourself.

Where do I love going that’s outside my city, state?

Where would I love to go on vacation?

Who would I love to away with for the weekend, or on a vacation with?

It also says, I do a little more than just go out drinking with my friends on the weekend. This says fun, interesting, and different, all while looking your best.

Also if you are going somewhere fun on vacation or a place a girl matching/commenting on your profile has traveled to, guess what, she might comment! For example, even though it happened only once, one girl totally knew that it was a cruise staircase.

So where do we go?

Maybe you like going to Spain, Europe (yes I know Spain is in Europe), maybe you like going to all inclusive resorts, or Hawaii. I’d love to go to Hawaii, cause they have fruity drinks, and there are a ton of DDD spots there (*F it, it’s a rare blog post where I get to reference Guy).

Give the girl a reason to go, ok this is different than just selfies, or pictures out with his friends. Give her a reason to stop and go “Oh, that’s Punta Cana, oh wow that’s Hawaii.” Do it in a way that stacks the deck in your favor by looking your best and finding that best possible background!

Go away, get out when you are on vacation (or if you’re like me, go on a cruise and don’t get off the boat). Find a fun place with a clear background and/or even better an awesome staircase, or just as good a noteworthy part of that town.

Now the supporting Details

Don’t forget that white Henley (ok I’ll admit it the first time I heard Henley, I thought it was Don Henley). A white Henley not only makes for variety in your profile, but the white will also contrast nicely with most if not all backgrounds.

Where I might go

For example, I love South Jersey and Philly (if I was going there, I might be tempted to take this picture at the Ben Franklin Square, Philly Live Casino, and/or The Rocky Steps (why gives the girl reason to comment, and it’s a cool part of a different city, town, country, that’s kind of noteworthy).

If I went to Miami, I’d find a cool part of town that was a little noteworthy and also had a cool background that might be easily identifiable.

Try your best for two things: one, a place in that city, town, resort, or cruise, that is one easily identifiable (such as the Rocky Steps, historic site, or even the typical cruise staircase), and two, at the same time makes for a great background (example my cruise picture is lucky, the light clear blue and the white shirt, totally did it)!

Let’s recap, How do we capture the profile? The who we are, and what were about…and the details.

The Profile: We have those who we are with (please use friends, and family, people you love being around).

What we were doing (vacation, cruise, all inclusive, weekend get-away).

Where are we? (Famous part of the town, famous historical site, or even just an upscale place with an awesome staircase/ background.

Position on the Stairs (If using Stairs)

Position on stairs: Sit near the bottom, feet third on the third step from the bottom, with the bottom two exposed.

Then, sit towards the left side (your left) of the stairs.

Look I’m just copying how my picture came out, it clearly worked, so why not break down the details.

Notice also in this picture how the slight position of my feet not being on the stair brings down my score just a little, just pointing out guys, the details really do count. I’ve included the picture below so we can easier see the small differences regarding how my feet are positioned, the angle, and the drink in my stairs.

Vacation Picture for dating profile

Notice also in the 7.5 picture (pictured above) the drink in my hand makes the picture complicated. The simplicity of the outfit, background/stairs and natural position of my hands and feet, put it over the top at a 7.9, a subtle, silly but apparently important difference.

Just be sure to look at that pretty good, but could be better 7.5 below, and the details around it stated above.

Camera Angle

Camera: Portrait mode, and with your head and body aligned in the middle and at the top of the frame. Tilt it and angle it up if possible so you are at the top of the frame.

Grooming: Please be well groomed, if you are bald like me, make sure your head is shaved the same day, or your beard is trimmed within a day of the picture, or you got a haircut.

Stack the Deck in your favor, the clothes, camera angle, the grooming, the position on the stairs, and boom you have yourself a vacation picture.
