How to Still Take the Best Dating Profile Pictures?
So we took a steak picture. Let’s get right down to the nitty gritty, we did not beat our, “Nice Restaurant Picture Score of a 6.5 when we went to Margie’s at the Rockaway hotel last week, as we only came in with a 6.4, And we definitely did not beat our original 7.2 taken in December of 2023
I’ll include the results from photofeeler.com below, and our original picture for reference.
Last night we fell short, only a 6.4, not topping last week’s 6.5, and not topping the December 2023, 7.2
Ok, so now what?
Does it mean give up? Hell freaking no! It also means, we are not going to go down a rabbit hole and obsess over this and eat steak every god damn weekend.
Let’s keep this in perspective. First, being in the range of a 6-7 range on photofeeler is perfectly fine for a dating app. We took a good dating profile picture last night, it just didn’t come out as good as the one I took three years ago.
December 2023 A 7.2 Baby!
Next, these pictures are about doing the things you love, with the people you love and somewhere you really want to go. You make the pictures you take fit into you, not the other way around; whether you are taking your friend out for his birthday (my original steak picture), or your girlfriend out to dinner.
A 6.1 with my face edited on my first, steak-picture. This is me not taking this with the people I love at all and going for a quick fix.
I’m going to be honest, last night I was not at my best, it felt a little bit forced, kind of more like I was taking a steak picture first and my girl out second. Not cool, as a man I have to do better.
Since two things can be true at once, I’m not going to stop taking pictures at nice restaurants, “BUT” I am going to make sure those pictures fit into us, not the other way around.
Why? Because I can go take steak pictures and nice restaurant pictures on my own time. It’s a huge freaking bonus I get to do it with the people I love.
I want to reiterate and make this very clear
There is nothing wrong with a score between a 6-7 on a dating profile picture you are testing on photofeeler! That means on a scale of 1-10 your attractiveness is a 6, that is good, yes we want to do better, but that is good and more than postable.
If you have scores of only a 6-7 and even a 5 on the hobby and physical pictures, I promise you are getting matched. We just want to have that awesome, elite level profile, (remember guys, you can spell elite without ELI). Yes, I did make an old and outdated Giant fan joke…anyways…
We just want it to be the very best it can be. Why? Because this is a service, a blog, and a business dedicated to having you at your best in dating, and relationships through personal growth, and a drive to help yourself, with your own simple actions.
Variables and of note
I want to insert my opinion here, and information I do know. You will probably agree with me, so let me say this, last night’s steak picture is the first one in this recent series where the background is not as nice as the other two (and definitely in my opinion not as nice as the original December 2023 picture).
I’ll insert it below one more time just so you can see the background.
In my opinion, this is the best background out of all of them!
The other two pictures are posted below (from the last two weeks). As you can see the background on the first two pictures from the last two weeks, there are no people in the background, and they have semi-decent backgrounds (especially that 01/03/2026 picture).
I want to make it clear, I do believe background counts. So strictly only to gain information, I am going to ask someone I know who is good at this, to change the background.
I will be sure to post an update on when he does later. For now, let’s recap exactly what we know and where we can improve going forward.
What we know
1. Last night did not feel like the true essence of that 7.2 picture I took, and as a man that is 100 percent on me. It’s my job to date and court my girl, not take her out for a steak picture. The last two pictures felt like normal fun dates, this one just didn’t, and I repeat strictly on me.
1a. The next time I do take a “Nice Restaurant Picture” or “Steak Picture”, it will damn sure be on an awesome date night.
2. Going out to a nice restaurant, wearing at least a nice white shirt, with a nice plate of food in front of you, and being well groomed. gets you at least a score of 6-7 on photofeeler.
2a. Opinion: Keyword is a nice plate of food, don’t just get a burger, get a nicely plated plate of food, something that is well garnished.
2b. Forming Opinion: I’m not going to lie, if I’m onto something here, this might be the crispy tuna rice picture (it’ll definitely save us all some money).
2c. It might not be the steak. But I am going to say it. I ordered crispy tuna rice, each of the last two weeks. That steak did not beat crispy tuna rice.
3. Taking these pictures with someone you love gets you a consistently better score than taking it with people you don’t.
3a. Insert original Steak Picture
4. We are just trying to raise our score to a 7-8, just like last time the real steak picture.
What will we find out?
1. How much does background matter? We will find out if changing background gets us past our recent score of a 6.5 from last week, and if it gets us to our desired 7-8 range.
2. How much taking my girl out on a regular date night, and nice night out makes a difference. To keep it real, this was a me issue, (but this is the absolute last time this will happen).
**Hint hint, 90’s band and Chadwicks (the original 7.2) we might find if you guys do!
3. Can practicing the skill of taking pictures make us better? I really hope so, isn’t that the most important thing? From having fun, relaxing, to striking better pose., I’m no cinema photographer, BUT I can learn a thing or two, focus on it, and get better at it!
4. How much does the actual steak count? Clearly the crispy tuna rice got a better score than the steak. So we might be renaming this the Crispy Tuna Rice Picture.
5. How much does being in the best shape possible for you matter?
5a. I weighed myself Friday at 187 pounds, had a couple of weekend cheat meals before this picture (two to be exact) and have been making it a point to get n even better shape lately.
BUT
Will me getting in even better shape, help the next steak/nice restaurant picture, we’ll find out.
Sidenote: When you do read or hear me say but that is a big time therapist sentence (for me at least), that is me saying, I know what I just said and everything I say BUT is much more important and the real thing that counts.
So guys, I’m sorry if I disappointed you. I mean to be honest, who the hell I disappointed besides myself I don’t know considering this is a new business, but you get the point (remember guys, don’t take yourself so damn seriously).
More importantly; we will keep growing and improving. Also at the end of the day you learned this; Going out to a nice restaurant wearing a nice white shirt, looking your best, and ordering a nice plate of food, with a drink in your hand gets you a score between a 6-7 for your dating profile. If my word is anything, to you guys, if you are doing that, you are way ahead of most people!
We just want that nice 7-8 range so we can have our profiles rank the highest, getting more matches and likes and the best experience on dating apps.
