Dating Profile: Prompt Number Two
by Joseph Gherman
For prompt number two, I want you to choose between what fits you and your values best. Choice number one will be making a prompt that is about relationships, and your views on them.
Choice number two will be writing about your favorite travel destinations, or weekend getaways (if this is something you love).
When I used this prompt, it sounded like this…
Prompt, “The Hallmark of a good relationship is.”
Answer: “Honest Communication, Shared Trust, and Strong Family Values.”
Why this Prompt Worked?
This prompt got its fair share of likes. Probably because it not just read well (remember fun and punchy prompts), but also because it spoke how some girls felt about an ideal relationship.
While this prompt did do well, it’s not something I would typically say (it was given to me in the dating cohort). If I had to pick my own prompt, based on my feelings on an ideal relationship it might sound something like…
Prompt: The Hallmark of a good relationship is
Answer: Laughter, Fun, and Trust.
Here’s why it still works
The reason why I would pick an answer like this today is because it resembles how I feel about my current relationship. Therefore it’s authentic to me, and still reads well.
I want you to think about what your answer would be if it was your views on an ideal relationship for you. What would it sound like? Here’s a few possibilities/ suggestions.
Some suggestions include
Prompt: The Hallmark of a Good Relationship is
Answer #1: Fun Dates, Lot’s of Laughs and Shared Snacks.
Answer #2: Eating Your Leftovers
Answer #3: The courtship never ends
Answer#4: Learning, Laughing, and Growing Together
What these answers say about you
Answer number one says you love a fun date, laughing together, and can appreciate good food you guys share.
Answer number two says you love food, while making a fun reference to a relationship stereotype where men are eating their girl’s leftovers..
Answer number three says you value taking your girl out, whether you have just started dating, or have been dating for years.
Answer number four says you value growth, learning new things, and having fun in a relationship. .
Prompts are still rooted in who you are and what you love.
If you do select the relationship prompt, I want your answer to be just like your first prompt; rooted in who you are, what you love, and your values.
The only difference is instead of talking about your career, food, and drinks, you’ll be saying these things in the context of a relationship.
What if you don’t want to select a relationship prompt? Well that’s no worry. After all, you do have a profile full of pictures that say who you are and what you love. It’s just a matter of saying it in a fun way.
Sure you can talk about your love of rooftop bars, cocktails, or hanging out with friends, but chances are you might not really love those things enough to write about them.
Or it might be difficult to make them into a good prompt. I believe there is something better to write about, something most people love, just different aspects of it, traveling.
What should a travel prompt include?
Since we already have a travel picture, we are going to include what you love about traveling in our second prompt (as long as there is something you love about traveling).
Maybe you love the spontaneous overnight trip, or a weekend getaway. Maybe you want to write about your favorite vacation, or travel destinations.
The point is to make this prompt something you love about traveling, while saying it in a fun and impactful way.
For me it would sound like this…
For example, I love cruises; but a prompt that simply says, “I love Cruises,” is not going to be a good prompt. It would be boring and come across as insignificant.
Now if a girl really likes cruises, that could work, but more likely than not, it’s just going to come across a random fact about myself that has minimal effect on a girl’s interest in that moment. I would be much better served to say it in that fun and brief way, such as…
Prompt: My love language is
Answer #1: Carnival or Norwegian
Prompt #2: This Year I really want to…
Answer: Stamp my Passport…more than once.
Why more than once?
Notice the, “More than once,” at the end. In my opinion it makes it just a little more impactful, than just saying, “Stamp my passport.”
It’s a fun way of saying, I love traveling so much, I want to do it more than once. A girl who really likes traveling, especially to other countries, is way more likely to like or match with you a prompt like this.
What if you like the spontaneous weekend away, or night out trip.
It might sound something like this…
Prompt: My love language:
Answer: “Taking you somewhere fun, be ready in an hour.”
Prompt: Together we Could:
Answer#1: Go away for the night, and come back in the morning.
Answer#2: Extend the trip one extra night
What these answers say about you?
These answers say you like a little weekend getaway (I know I do), and value the spontaneity of it. Whether it’s spending an extra night, or an impromptu trip.
Whether you want to write about your ideal relationship, or your love of travel and the spontaneity of it, selecting a prompt that fits you best is important.
It allows you to be real with yourself. Which then allows you to be more natural in how you say it. By writing about what you love, and being more natural about it, it will read in a more fun, and impactful way.
The girl’s point of view
The girl reading it will feel like she is reading something fun about you, not just random facts. When she has these things in common with you, you are that much more likely to get a match or like with prompts like these.
This is the trick to writing a good prompt.,You want to be real, you want to be yourself, and give share the things you have in common with the girl, which just make it more likely to match. These two prompts are a great example of this.
In the relationship prompt, you might not see exactly eye to eye on relationships, but if there is something you that resonates with her, then she is going to like that prompt. If she likes traveling, and you speak about it, then she is going to also be more likely for her to match and like you.
The same can be said for the travel prompt. You might not like traveling to the same places, but by writing about one aspect you do love about traveling, bring out the love of traveling you have. If she loves traveling, she is going to appreciate that commonality you too have.
Prompt Number Two:
Write down what you love about traveling or relationships. Then say it in a fun way.
