Dating Rule Number Three: The Dating App Wants you to Succeed
Let’s be honest, if you are reading a blog like this a couple of things are probably true. You have a dating app, are on a few of them, and at one point or another have definitely been frustrated by them.
You also have probably found yourself doing google searches, YouTube Video’s and reddit forums on dating apps, and how you can have a better profile and a better experience.
In this blog post I am going to explain exactly how dating apps work that details your experience in the beginning, the dating apps experience (yes, it does have one), and the girl’s experience, let me explain.
Have you ever noticed?
Have you ever noticed that your first 30-60 days are usually your best days on a dating app? You likely feel like you are doing best, or are statistically doing your best (in terms of matches, dates, and messages), more so than at any other time on that dating app. Why is that? It’s because you are new.
What exactly does being a new user on a dating app have to do with getting you more matches and messages? It is a combination of three things: your experience, the girl's experience, and information the dating app gets.
Why does the dating app show you more in the beginning?
In my opinion, the dating app is gaining something by frequently showing you more in the beginning- it is gaining your loyalty.
By giving you a good experience, i.e. more matches and messages, you have a reason to physically pick up the phone, log in, and use it more. If each time you pick up the phone, and log in to the dating app, and have more matches, and messages, and even dates, what are you more likely to do? Pick it up more!
We all like that feeling of picking up our phone, and logging into a social media account, and seeing a notification for a message or a mention, especially on a dating app from a cute girl.
You like that feeling the dating app gives you, so what do you do? Simply pick up the phone and use the dating app more (that dopamine hit, if you will).
Now, what happens when you pick up that phone and there aren’t as many notifications as last time?
What happens when you are waiting for a message or reply from a hot girl, and it isn’t there?
Well, you definitely don’t have that same good feeling as before. So what do you do? You do what you can to get that good feeling back.
You use it more, buy boosts, purchase website memberships (gold, platinum, X…you get the point), hoping this will be a solution to get that feeling of success back.
The Dating App is getting you accustomed
By featuring your profile more in the beginning, the dating app is giving you and getting you accustomed to a certain number of matches, messages, and dates that make you feel good about your dating app experience.
For example, if in the first two to three weeks you are used to five notifications, and then in the next two weeks you only get two notifications, are you going to feel the same about your experience?
Likely you won’t; you’ll feel frustrated and say, “what happened to those other girls I was matching and messaging with?”
As time goes on, and you get less matches and messages than before, you are more likely to spend money on the app.
That is one thing the dating app gains by giving you a good experience in the beginning- they get you hooked on that feeling, and now you're constantly chasing it.
What else is the dating app gaining? Information!
When the dating app features you in the beginning it is gaining another thing as well. It is gaining information:
Is this a good profile or not? If your profile is not a good profile, what is the dating app going to do? Feature you less and move you down the dating app totem pole.
But if your profile is a good profile, what is the dating app going to do? Feature you more! Why? Because your profile is a good profile!
That’s why a good profile matters
So that’s why it is important for you to maintain a good, strong, desirable dating app profile. It’s easy to have a kick-ass dating profile that is awesome that the app will feature.
